Star Trails - terroba

Star Trail Galleries

Star trail images are a great way to visually see that the Earth is rotating as well as an easy way to see the true colors of stars. The hottest stars appear bluish, and the coldest stars reddish. Star trail images are made by first collecting a series of long (20-30sec) exposure pictures from a standard Canon T4i camera mounted on a fixed tripod (If you try this, make sure you use the camera's manual focus MF option, since it's too dark for autofocus AF to work). For processing, the pictures are uploaded into the free program StarStax and stacked together to make trails.
